Alright obviously americans will favor there's, and the english will favor there's. But just a friendly conversation on which has the better sports.
Americans like faster paced games-Baseball, American football, hockey.
Britons like games that are slower-Cricket, Football
I looked this up to find that both countries play rugby and polo, so those don't really count.

Football is the biggest spectator sport in the world by far - fact.

More people watch cricket, than any of the U.S. sports. It has a massive worldwide tv audience, especially in Asia, where it is huge.
Australia + NZ
UK and Europe.

Infact, who else but the Yanks, like Baseball or American football?

Simon D i couldnt agree with you more. That post was total class

Now to answer the question. Football, you know the FOOT+BALL version is played at an incredibly fast pace.Have you ever seen Manchester United play.

Our footballers would beat the living daylights out of you pansie yankee doodles. Have you heard of Vinnie Jones, Roy Keane and now Wayne Rooney. If these people hadnt become footballers they would all be serving time for f ucking up cocky mofos like you americans

Football is older by over a hundred years in the amature form and 40 years in the proffesional game

As mentioned our girls play Baseball and Basketball under different names ( rounders and netball respectivly )

I agree cricket is slower but bad mouth it to the aussies and theyll cut out your tounge and feed it to a kangeroo

Who told you american football was fast paced anyway. Its almost as slow as One Day Cricket and there is a form of cricket thats faster twenty20 cricket so its hardly fast paced.

Basketball/netball is also very boring.I would rather watch the world fishing championships

Baseball/rounders is well errrrrrrrr shite

So i think its a victory for world sports here and i challange you to prove the other 5.7billion people wrong.

And im also curious of this one nation world bowl. Really i am

I don't know about where you live, but where I grew up American sports were played by the girls.
Baseball (rounders), Basketball (netball).

It seems that American Football is played by girls also, just compare it to rugby.
Could somebody explain to me why with only 5 men on a team, a Basketballer is lauded for scoring 20 or more. Seeing as a score of 100 is normal. Bunch of lazy fairies. How much do they actually play? 10 minutes.
80 people on an American Football team, and they are padded? Words fail me.
Someone once said that the last time they went to see a prison riot, an Ice Hockey game broke out. I understand the frustration, where at any one point in time is the puck?
And don't start me on that World Series thing, when a tiny island off their coast would kick their collective back-side.

Any Americans I see playing sports are generally kicked off our reserved pitch, they seem to dance and pirouette about with a frisbee playing touch American Football with the girls.
Needless to say the North Americans who play on rugby teams out here are usually Canadians, or (strangely) Ivy Leaguers.

Actually Simon D and lancs, your answers I believe just show the ignorance of some english people against any sport that isn't their own. We also have basketball and baseball for girls (softball), but our softball rules our different than the baseball ones, which would be true for across the pond as well. How can you call us Americans cocky, when in fact, your answer was just that. Do your research before you talk about sports you don't know anything about. There's a lot more to our games than you think.

I'm American, and to tell you the truth English sports holds my attention better. I like watching cricket and English football. The only American favorite sport - basketball, football, and baseball - that I have somewhat of an interest in is baseball, but overall I like English sports except I like American gymnastics better, but then I like Eastern European/Eastern Asian better than American.

Generally, the British prefer sports where the violence is in the stands, and Americans prefer sports where the violence is on the field of play.

While I appreciate this generalization breaks down a little with bowls and curling, it is only a generalization. It may have something to do with the two countries respective gun laws. Soccer hooligans would all have been shot already if they tried that in the US.

lol OK am English married to an American and TRUST me have yet to find anyone that likes cricket period EITHER side of the world..................I swear its like watching paint dry.......

Rugby is slowing taking off over here in the USA but I doubt it will ever have the following that American football has.....

You know the ONE huge difference is that here in the USA pretty much all sporting events are FAMILY events and yep they sell beer, dang they even bring it to you lol lol

American football is an acquired taste but now I know at least some of the rules its OK to watch, but then not a huge fan of football either except the big ones....Superbowl , world cup etc

I actually have to agree with LQ, even though I am British. We can't fully understand American sports, unless we've grown up around it like they have. Same with the British sports. Both countries have aspects about their sports that I can appreciate. So please lancs and Simon, stop emberassing us brits. Don't act like you know a sport when in fact you don't fully understand it.

watch the Olympics and you will see the difference
its usually a lot of medals
I'm English and the only thing that really gets up my nose about Americans is the fact they will not except that football is called football not there version with helmets and pads but our version were we kick a ball with our feet
foot + ball = football
its not that hard is it

Us Brits play soccer at a very fast pace.
The USA tend to play it slowly.
