Your stator will have to be re-wound to do it correctly. The KX's stator does not have lighting coils, any extra power draw from it will effect the CDI and ignition.

There is a company called "Ricky Stator" that specializes in adding lighting coils to MX bike stator assemblies. They, or any other company that does this kind of work, can give you enough windings so your KX can run PIAA lights like they use in Baja with no adverse effect to your electrical system.

You might be able to rig up a 9v battery to an enduro style headlight if all your trying to do is pass tech at an enduro. But that type of deal won't give you a very bright light and won't last very long.

This is very easy. Remove the side cover where the chain comes out. There should be two wires coming out from the flywheel. All you have to do is splice the positive wire fore the headlight into the positive wire coming out of the flywheel. Those wires are what goes to the alternator and is what keeps your battery charged. Then hook the negative wire up the the battery. Place a switch in the NEGATIVE wire of the headlight. This will make it so it dosent work unless it is running, thus saving your battery. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

persist with the wiring out of your kill swap to the coil. might desire to be located under the gas tank. This cord grounds out your coil shutting off the spark to the plug. you will possibly desire to get an ignition swap (vehicle zone/ wall mart/ atv keep) connect a cord to floor (physique) and one to the cord on the coil then locate the main suitable set of terminals which will kill the motorbike interior the off place. or you will possibly desire to easily use a small water-resistant toggle swap and cover it below the motorbike. purely keep in mind with a toggle swap off might extremely be on and on is off.

You don't. The thing that passes for a generator on your bike couldn't power a firefly.
