I'm a first year undergrad and this semester's grades are so bad i'll probably be put on academic probation. However, I have every intent of getting perfect marks next semester. Last year I applied to a different state university where I was accepted. I want to reapply and transfer there for fall '07. Will one semester of academic probation completely ruin my chances of getting in? Do universities give you a chance to show improvement during spring semester before accepting or rejecting you, or do they ever do something like accept you but make it clear they expect you to keep your grades up or else they'll dismiss you?

Academic probation is serious and can affect getting into another college. How have your grades been in the past? If they have been stellar, then someone looking at that can sum up you had the first semester gitters (or partying too much!). You could fall back on your previous record and push that along with the promise to get help and do much better.

You should be receiving a letter detailing what they will need from you in the Spring semester if you plan on staying at that school. It will have to be a higher GPA so that the overall GPA is above a 2.0 at least. As far as being a one of three warnings, I was never given that many. It was get it right in the Spring or you are out of here.

Yea they'll give you a second chance..but you gotta really wow them. Most places won't let you get less than a B average when you're on academic probation. So time to start hitting the books and making the grade my friend. Good luck to ya.

this is not a school occupation ender, yet you want to take this "tutorial holiday" (as my friends noted as it) to imagine by what has befell, and what you want to do to dodge it from happening lower back. in case you want to be able to graduate along with your AA, you should carry your accepted GPA up above a 2.0. in case you want to be able to move to WSU, you want to carry it as a lot as a 2.5. you're literally not screwed yet, yet you do have some hard work prior to you. once you come to campus, be particular that you're prepared to concentration on your schoolwork. Get a teach for any type it truly is troublesome for you. Take fewer education, if it means that you'll do extra effective in them. Drop some activities, so that you've time to study.
