Yes, you should uninstall Norton simply because it will require CPU resources every time you access a file.

In the end it will slow down the performance of your computer.

Most viruses discovered are usually bleeding edge. Older viruses are common and are 99% of the time in any popular antivirus program. Meaning you will have no advantage to keeping Norton AV installed.

* It is unlikely you'll have trouble running both (not to name anything) but it is still recommended you uninstall Norton and not run both.

Let me know if you need more assistance,
Ken

Yes you do need to uninstall your old anti-virus program. When you have 2 anti-virus programs running, they tend to argue and give false positives (find viruses that aren't really there). Your best bet is to download AVG (free) & back it up by doing a free online scan via Trendmicro's housecall (free & removes viruses free unlike others that will only remove if you purchase a license).

Along with that use spybot, ad-aware & hi-jack this to keep an eye on your pc's health. If you want to really eliminate the potential for problems dump IE & use Firefox. Firefox has some great extensions like Noscript, ADblock that further protect you from sites that run malicious scripts (accidentally or not) when you visit them.

>> Sorry so long, but protection really should be done in layers.

Yes, i would because it's old and expired with no use.. Also, if u dont uninstall that and install the other program your computer will become slow for just a 15month old computer.. Gradually viruses would start growing in your computer and it'll become no use Here is A link if u want to get rid of viruses(It's free and all u have to do is download it).. Run it weekly and your computer will be safe with no worries.. another thing u can do to run it faster is to get rid of any programs u dont use or haven't use for a while.. They don't do any good and just make everything run very slow

it would be a good idea to uninstall the old NAV first before installing a new one. Antivirus software usually work deep with your system software, and thus may encounter conflicts resulting to PC crashes. it is therefore better to simply uninstall first NAV before installing a new one.

...and always keep your antivirus software updated.

yes. If you can, before uninstalling norton, go to where you would download AVG. but, instead of clicking open, click save and save it to your desktop. then disconnect yourself from the internet (pull the plug) and uninstall norton, then connect back to the internet and click the button you saved on your desktop.

Thanx!!
