To all of the rude people SHUT UP!! she problay does not get maternity leave through work. Anyways in the state of California you can file for disability. You might want to wait though and save it for when your baby comes because it the state of California you only get 6 weeks for normal delivery and 8 weeks for C section. Also when you file there is a two week waiting period so you will not get paid. Talk to your doctor about it. THATS WHAT AM DOING!!! good luck and CONGRATS on your new baby =)

You need to talk to your HR and find out what your options are. You can go on disability leave if you have a good reason. Sorry my dear, but pregnancy isn't good enough. My co-worker went on disability leave 2 weeks before her scheduled c-section, but that was only because she was so swollen that she couldn't drive or even bend her legs. I'm 35 weeks pregnant as well and I'm still working. I want to spend as much time with my baby as possible. I'm probably going to see if my doctor will sign me off 2 weeks before my due date -- if my back pain persists and I start to swell really bad. I have a friend who worked up until the day her baby was born (no joke). If you live in CA, you should really talk to your HR if you haven't already.
Good luck with that!

Under some circumstances you could qualify if your company has over 50 employees through the Family Medical Leave act.
I believe you'd need a doctor to state you are no longer able to work due to your pregnancy.
It may also cut into the amount of time you have after the baby for maternity leave.

well that would be nice. Sorry to hear that being pregnant is considered a disability to you. it's called maternity leave and it starts when you have a baby. Or you could start it now and go back to work when the baby is a week old. Is this for real?? Where did you ever get this idea??

What your asking about is Maternity Leave not disability. And it depends on your labour laws were you live. In canada you are intitled to 15 weeks of maternity leave and 35 weeks of parentel leave. I took my leave at about 34 weeks and am glad that I did. Yes I will have to go back earloer but it gave me time to get things ready. I am now almost 39 weeks and in early stages of labour. So it just depends on what the labour law states. Keep in mind that you have to have worked 600 hours to qualify for these benefits (in canada).
Good Luck

you comprehend.... there is not any trouble-free thank you to tell your loved ones. I instructed my dad and step-mom and that they instructed me to have an abortion or supply it up for adoption..... This coming from kin with a reliable Catholic back bone. you will possibly desire to not subject approximately it however, its complicated sure, yet not impossible. i'm 22, in college, and artwork with my 18 month previous and one on the way. in the experience that your dad and mom won't be able to settle for it then they are lacking out, have confidence me. you will consistently have that pleasing infant, in the experience that your dad and mom are against it they won't get to affix the wonderful experience. yet, a relaxing thank you to tell them that would make it a sprint much less annoying is to deliver them a card or something asserting "international's perfect Grandparents" or something. you would be ok, mom's are usually astonishing.
