MTV, a staple in most Teen’s vocabulary since 1981, has become more or less a swollen reality show pimple on the *** of today’s young society. Only five of its current 51 shows even have to deal with music, so much for “Music Television.” WHAT HAPPENED?

I SOOOO agree with you. I don't even bother to watch MTV anymore, because it's not really about music. I would love to see them go "retro" and get back to their original format.....MUSIC. I was watching the very first day they went on air and I remember it being the most awesome thing. Great question.

I believe you. After renting maximum of latest releases I have been given so pissed off with the contrived plots, and overstimulation for the a.d.d. society we've become that i began renting 70's, eighty's, and early ninety's movies. even however they weren't as flashy and polished, the plots and the appearing grew to become into some distance greater suitable. I desire Hollywood made movies like that back.

while I dont think 21 is old I remember MTV when Beavis and Butthead were first on it. Its was that and music videos.I would love to have it back! Real world sucks and so does ll the other shows. it shouldn't be called music television as there no more music.

Idk what the f*ck happened. I always thought MTV meant Music Television also. Was when I was younger anyway. They only seem to actually play music late at night or early morning.
They should just change the name of the station. It's no longer about the music.

so agree. we miss the astronaut guy on the moon with his mtv flag, even downtown julie brown, who drove me nuts years ago is sadly missed now. can remember laying on the floor with the great big bulky "boom box" holding down the play record combo buttons to record on cassettes the top ten every week. even miss the game show(can't think of the name right now) where they would get dumped backwards out of a recliner when they answered wrong, now that was a game show.collin was the hosts name. mtv has definitely got it all wrong now they sold out on us!!

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES! I can't stand MTV now. It's just pure awful. The music out now is HORRENDOUS. I think they should just shut it down. Who wants to see a video at 6am? No thanks. It's ashame that you have to have digital cable just to see videos on MTV & VH1 Classic. It's just awful. Enough of the Real World.

thank you for stating what i have thought for years. Mtv is supposed to be MUSIC TELEVISION.
it ought to be called BStv - cause thats whats on it now, BS.
but, here's another alternative i found recently...

that is UNDERGROUND VIDEO TELEVISION
it plays mostly hard rock/metal/hardcore stuff.
at least its all music.

ME! I can't stand all of these lame shows they have on there now. You have to pay to get the music channels and even some of those have shows on now.
