Set out an assortment of foods-fruit, bread, cheese, and leftovers of prepared food from your fridg-in a warm moist area and check them daily. Should know within a couple of days.

You could make this project a lot better by comparing foods at different temperatures and moisture levels rather than different foods.

Try taking a loaf of fresh bread and put each slice into a baggy and seal it up. You could put some baggies in the freezer, some in the fridge, some in a closet and some in a warm place, like say in the basement next to the furnace, or next to a motor or someplace else where they will be constant warmer than usual room temp.

After a few days you will see some great molds!

This experiment will work way better if a) you get organic bread or bread from a bakery where they don't put anything in it to keep it from molding. Store bread from a big national brand usually has something in it to prevent molding (or actually, that could be part of your project to compare store bread with bakery bread).
b) you could try smearing the bread with something - like, take some of the bread and put a thin smear of butter completely over both sides, and with another slice brush it lightly with a some water that you've dissolved sugar in.

Too bad you waited so long. These slices of bread would look really cool if you gave them about a week, but you should have some growth on them by four or five days.

Looks to me as though someone should've done their own work...slacker kids these days.... Just say that wild blood thirsty turkeys chasing chocolate covered frogs destroyed your project..
