It is impossible to conjecture. So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.
Why haven't we heard from them?
Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.
Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.
Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.
Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.
Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.
It is really impossible to know for sure.
The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

They are already living among us, you just don't know how to recognize them.. Originally they came from the planet Agravatius. About two thousand years ago they established a group of small colonies throughout the world. the colony in this part of the world were forgotten when the others were carried back to their home planet..those aliens couldn't think for themselves and as a result of that, since they had a good many human qualities, they mistakenly were integrated into the earthly population.. Some grew up to be what I call blockers. These are the simple ones. Most of them can be found driving in the left lane at about twenty miles below the speed limit. they also show up at the malls and gather in bunches outside the doorways of the department stores during the holidays. They don't know why they are there, they just are. You can also find some of them in twos and threes inside the stores. They are the couple pushing the stroller that is parked, with the baby in it, cross ways in the aisle. the male is usually looking up at the ceiling at who knows what and the female is in a comatose trance as she is looking at things on the shelf. They are impervious to the comotion going on around them as people try to get by. You will also find them at the grocery store on the occasion when you are in a hurry while attempting to run in the store for a half gallon of ice cream. You will notice that at those times there is no one at the checkout counters, but when you grab the ice cream and are holding it in your bare hands, when you get to the checkout stand there are 16 people in front of you. Usually there is one old lady alien who has to write a check, then another woman that can't get the credit card to work, then there is one with the wrong price and then there is the one with the coupons.. All of these people are the off spring of the aliens. Just look for them. You can recognize them because they are the ones directly in front of you and are keeping you from getting to where you need to go, on time. The blockers, they are everywhere. The worst ones are known as the delayurasses. You don't want to know about them yet. Wait till you are experienced enough to handle them.

We have been here for eons. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

There is some historical evidence that suggests that we have been visited already, (wheel in a wheel in Ezekiel or "in Search of Ancient Astronauts") so perhaps if that is true maybe we'll be visited again.

No, because there are no aliens. The whole idea is very silly.

No.
I believe other life exists. But either:
It's not advanced enough to get here or:
It's advanced enough to get here and we are of absolutely no interest to such an advanced people.
