As a mother of a 6 year old daughter and and a daughter who was in your boat let me tell you this. My mom and dad were way too protective of me. They never discussed sex, periods, relationships, etc. and because of this I was raped while at university. It has really affected my life. I am in my 30's now and still find I need to attract men by "looking good, by wearing make-up" I think that if your mom discusses with you how to wear make-up responsibly and you are not looking like a prostitute then your mom needs to let you start growing up. Just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Young girls are way more beautiful without makeup. Especially if your skin is as nice as you say. I wear make-up because I have a naturally red complexion all the time and I am constantly getting asked where I went south on vacation. It often hurts my feeling. Don't want to grow up to fast. There are so many horrible men waiting to prey on you, don't rush things and always always love your family and know they are trying to keep you safe. Talking is so much better when a family is honest with one and other.

I was 16 before my mom would let me use any kind of make-up. I use to put it on when i got to school and washed it off before i went home. Not saying you should do that. Really all a girl needs is a little mascara and sum lip gloss. Make-up will give you pimples and blackheads anyways. Dont rush being a grown up, it all happens in time and you'll wish it would slow down when you get older.

Ironically I had a conversation about this today, I have to say that when you hit high school you should wear makeup, and only if you can wear it well. There are way too many young girls running around with makeup that makes them look as though they should be standing on a corner with a miniskirt. If you want to wear makeup, ask your mom to take you to a place that will show you how to do it, or ask her how to do makeup. Tell her that you are interested, but you want it to look natural.
If you can show that you want to wear it responsibly, you may have a better chance in being able to wear it!
Either way, good luck!

I didn't wear makeup at 14 nor 15 nor 16 nor 17. I started wearing makeup at 18. It's probably because I was not raised in the states. Started wearing makeup when I migrated in US because everybody wears it. I suggest you not to wear too much either because you are young. If your skin looks good then leave it alone don't wear make up. Just wear gloss and that's it.

Of course this seems unfair to you. You may try talking to your mom about a compromise. You tell her exactly what you want to wear for make up and maybe she'll allow some of it. The sneaking of makeup from your friend is not a good thing, it'll make a liar out of you one day if not already. Try talking it out with your mom but behave like an adult in doing so and she might surprise you.

first of all don't use anyone else's eyemake up it's not healthy for your eyes!talk not scream to your mom and find out why she's against make up.there is a clear mascara you can buy I think it's maybelline or cover girl.if your skin is pretty all you really need is some lip gloss. makeup clogs your skin then maybe it won't be as pretty and clear!Enjoy young healthy skin, because some day you'll wish for it again!

I think its totally unfair, I'm 11 and I can wear any kind of makeup, I put on dark blue eyeshadow and my mom and dad didn't say a word. I just left with my friend and went to the mall.

Well i think its unfair becuz i love make-up but rules are rules and if she wont let u wear it then there is nothing u can do but maybe u could talk to her and make a deal with her that u will only wear it 2 times a week and then gradually wear it all the time.

I personally think that you are old enough to wear make up and it should be your choice if you want to wear it. Maybe talk to your mom about it? Prove to her that you are mature and maybe ask her if you could buy the make yourself if she would let you wear it? Also as the person above said make sure you have someone to teach you how to do your make-up well. If your mom, family or friends can't you could go to stores like clinique, ulta, sephora or mac and they will teach you how.

it sounds to me like youre one of the lucky ones. if you dont have
anything to cover dont cover it up. if you wear mascara youll only look silly because they will look like spider legs. i am forty seven years old and i can remember when i first tried the mascara, i didnt need to wear it but i did . i used to have beautiful curly eyelashes and when i used the curler i ruined them i had to use it everyday or else they went straight. if you are pale a little blush wonts hurt. wear only what you need and dont put it on heavy.
