My new blanket has a lot of static electric charge built up and keeps shocking me when I try to use it. Could someone help me figure out how to discharge it? thanks!

Wash the blanket and be sure to use fabric softener. Place in the dryer with extra dryer sheets. You also need to get rid of the dryness in the air, so run a humidifier.
Here is a good recipe for fabric softener.
2 cups baking soda
4 cups water
2 cups Herbal Vinegar or white vinegar
Mix ingredients and store in a plastic or glass container in the laundry area. Add 1/4 cup to the final rinse water in washing machine. If your water is hard, you may have to add a little more.

All you need to do is go to Radio Shack and buy a long alligator clip and clip it to your blanket. Then you could take a really long nail and shove it into an electrical outlet. Make sure you put the nail into the ground or else you could die from electrocution. Next attach the other end of the alligator clip to the nail that is shoved into the electrical outlet. This will send the blanket charge through your power lines outside in to a stake that the electrician shoved into the ground.

Sometimes you can't put an electric blanket in the dryer, it must be air-dried. Buy and spray "Static Guard" on your blanket. I hope this helps.

there's a sprig referred to as Static shelter. interior the laundry portion of your save. Spray your vehicle seat with that, and see what takes position. If not, you may try 40% liquid fabrics softener and 60% water in a 20oz bottle. Spray gently and enable dry. :-)
