I've been enjoying high salary in the states compare to working class n china. but experience wise and for further advancement, it seems to me having direct experience in china will be very beneficals. Does it hold true? not to mention i know cantonese, mandarin and english and a little bit japanese as well. but i got frustrated as i kinda lost my direction at the moment. what should i do? i'm currently a consultant in a IT firm......

Go for it. China is becoming an economic giant. It will definitely help your career if you have experience working in China.

I hear that Bill Gates hired a tutor to teach Chinese to his family.

You should be considering working elsewhere as an expat instead. For example, I recommend Dubai which is where I live and work for one of the world's largest US IT firms. If you know those languages, you should avoid going where everyone does. Instead, you should be working for someone who can leverage your skills in a territory where this type of resources are scarce. The Middle East is paying very high at the moment, and this is due to remain like this for at least 4-6 years. Feel free to contact me for any further insights. Good luck.

Why are you considering only China and not possibly Singapore as well? Further clarify your goals to yourself and research to see if a China-based employer or a Singapore-based employer can help you achieve them. In Singapore, they speak Mandarin, Cantonese, other Chinese dialects, French and English. The salary level might be better there that in China. You might contact the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC or possibly one in New York. I know Singapore has one in New York.

huh? im kinda confused by ur question. well for me u should consider workin in china if the following conditions apply: ur bored, u wanna try something new, single and u dont mind the salary. juz prepared urself for a different environment. the plus side is that china is booming, business wise and who knows 20 years from now, it will be next to USA.
