More then anything he is doing this for the new sensations that eating brings him. Do not give him sweets or cookies... and DO NOT put cereal in his bottle. That is a big no no. They will over eat and end up getting constipated and could also lead to bad eating habits later on in life.
If you are already giving him baby food, try mixing the fruit with rice cereal or oatmeal. Take your time and make sure you are giving a few days between each new food to make sure that he isn't allergic. There is no reason to be in a rush to feed him solid foods it will come eventually. Nothing chunky until he has teeth either.
I found that a mesh feeder is a life safer for the teething baby. You can pack fresh fruits in it and let them chew away without worrying about them choking.

Best of luck with your little guy.

Stand your ground...I'm in the same boat, only it's my own mother who's trying to give him the cookie! Just because he doesn't have teeth doesn't mean he can't smell food. When he smells food it causes his mouth to water, yes babies experience cravings and hunger just like you and I. If you feel guilty you can have some baby food readily available, just a few spoon fulls will taper his hunger, or be ready to nurse. You might need to increase how much solids your giving him once he turns 6 months old, and nurse on demand to help control his hunger.

My daugther only ate baby food for about two months. At 10 months, she will only eat table food and soups. Any finger food she loves. Beans, tofu, sliced avocado, very well cooked small pasta, peas, carrot, sweet potato, white potatoes, etc. Also, look for snacks made from puffed rice (Gerber sells them). They dissolve quick so no teeth is no problem. My daugther loves them.
And...don't worry about being the bad guys. no cookies! Stand your ground.

We mixed baby oatmeal and formula(or breast milk) and that seemed to help with the voracious 24-7 appitite. Just make sure that it is just enough to fill the hunger, and make sure they still gain the weight they are supposed to. We did oatmeal over rice ceriial becasue the rice cerial was constipating our child. We started the oatmeal milk mix at 4 months, stopped it at 8.

Get him some baby "chew toys". you know the teething rings and things. My son is the same way and we absolutley refuse to feed him unless it is time for him to eat. He gets mad, but we ignore him if he pitches a fit, just beacuse we are eating. We also try and plan our meals so that they are during his naps or after he is in bed of an evening.

I like to eat too. Dont let him eat that stuff and tell everyone else not to either or he will choke.
