I just asked this question and got good answers but keep in my mind i dont know a single thing about cars, and i forgot to mention a few things
And i really cant ask anyone for help with my car, and cant take it to a mechanic (i live in CO, and its a 98 dodge neon)

last time i drove it was three weeks ago, and the thing that shows if the car is hot or cold kept going up to hot after a few minutes of driving. When it was on hot it would make a beeping noise like the one it makes when my door is opened. Please help me, i obviously dont know anything about cars and cant for to go to a mechanic right now.

The real truth is that you can't afford to not go to a mechanic Liz. Many shops and even parts stores would be willing to diagnose this problem for you free of charge. It could also cost as little $20-$30 to have a hose replaced, $50 or so for the thermostat work but then it could just need coolant or a radiator sealent (if they can use that in the neon)
Although it can cost big bucks to have a car repaired it is not a rule.

Liz,
Don't drive the car for too long when it is hot or it is going to cost you a lot more money and it will do extensive damage to the engine. You need to get this problem diagnosed promptly before the engine is ruined. Your problem could be a $4 thermostat versus a blown head gasket, warped head $1000 - $1500 if you keep driving it while it is hot.

Make sure you keep this thing full of fluids. Its like a person... If you dont feed and water it, it will die.

Dont open the radiator while its hot! You will never see skin melt off so fast.

Don't drive it when it's hot or you'll mess up the engine badly...which will be costly.
It's either low on water (coolant) or has a faulty thermostat. Also, observe if it leaking coolant.
