It does take practice to get some movements so you are doing them well. Start doing the movement slowly and exaggerate it a bit, then gradually speed up and make the movement smaller. One way to force yourself to not move your entire body and focus on just the shoulders during a shoulder shimmy is to sit down, or kneel. It's rather impossible to move your lower body in a shoulder shimmy while sitting or kneeling.

It's a matter of practise, but here is a suggestion: at the beginning, when you still can't control it, try to prectise the shimmy always far from meals, with empty stomach, and also don't start directly from it, but practise other steps for 15 minutes, when you are "hot" then start shimming.

Do you mean with the sholders???
If so, move one sholder forward then that same sholder back while moving the other sholder forward. Repeat. Then speed it up. Start of slowly and then get faster. Then sort of add your body to it.

Well...practice makes it perfect.. and one thing....It is good to try and fail and try again, but it is not alright to try and and fail and fail to try again.. think about it>>>>it requires patience and sacrifice.
