I'm helping my friend, Hannah, find a science project! It's due in a week and she wants something good, but not too complicated. She is 11, 6th grade I think? She is very smart... cough cough ~ *nerd*

You might suggest doing an experiment to determine the effects of salinity on freezing water. i.e. Does Salt Water Freeze? Yes, I know it does, but try mixing a couple of different solutions of water and salt, with varying amounts of salt, and check them once every 30 minutes to monitor the results. Does it freeze? Does it freeze faster or slower than fresh water? You might even tie it in to the whole global warming/melting polar ice caps situation.

Get a cat and a dog in a field with one tree.

Put the dog 100 feet from the tree with the cat in between (closer to the tree). Let loose of both.

Try again with the cat farther from the tree.

What is the ratio of cat-to-tree/dog-to-tree(100ft). Before dog catches cat before cat reaches tree?

How much faster than cat than dog?

How many times before cat doesn't run to tree.

How many times to Hannah's friend (you) have t get scratched by retreiveing cat from tree before better idea is thought up.

The project will be a failure, because cat will be faster, but a failed project conducted in a thorough manner can be just as good.

Try a different dog.

The video tape will be most entertaining.
