Most of these previous answers are correct. The most simple way is to use the original software that came with the burner but if it came with the system and was pre-loaded you might have to download the driver. Most newer operating systems do come with drivers that should include your burner.

No, you do not lose your CD burner, you however, might need to install the drivers for it again, you should be able to find the drivers at :

Absolutely no, the cd drive should be the way it was, the only difference should be in the hard drive, all you need to do is install operating system and all the drivers for the system and all the devices.

you would definitely lose the drivers for the burner unless you image your old hard drive to the new one. otherwise most are plug and play and be usable once your OS is up and running.

You have to reformat the whole thing. So yes you have to load the software for that back in.
