I would definitely research that as you may need help. I know when the 98 came out it was a full install but there were certain DOS files that had to be on the hard drive for it to work properly. Not positively sure that it would not be the same to reverse your OS to a prior. This can be a vigorous process especially if you lose a DOS file that is required in the transition. Not impossible, but I would recommend seeking assistance so you dont end up with a mess and no sure fix to repair the problem.

You can very well install Windows 98SE and Windows XP, but it is preferable to install both of them on a different partition. Also when you format the disks, do not choose NTFS file system for Win XP otherwise you wont be able to browse the content of the other drive when you boot you system from Windows 98SE. You can also install WinXP in the same partition but it will detect an operating system already installed on the boot partition and will give you option to upgrade it. You can choose to change the directory where the WinXP can install its files for eg
Directory for Windows 98SE = c:\windows
Directory for Windows XP = Winxp
Then you can have both the operating system installed on the same boot partion and what you can do is create an image for your convenience so that you can recover it if something goes bad in future.

98 sec? do you mean Windows 98 SE?
1. No, if you computer can run Windows XP Pro, it can run Windows 98 SE.
But, It would be stupid to install an older operating system. XP Pro is a good operating system (as good as windows can get, save for Vista)

Partition your hard drive first, and put 98 on the partition.
When you start your computer, you will get the option to start up XP or 98.
It will start XP by default, if you do not select anything.

Not at all. Back up your data, reformat and install 98. Why you would want to do this is puzzling.
