Whooo buddy! Those things are fun. Shipmate and I on of the ships I was on used to start 'scuttltbutt' all the time. We'd talk about something in the chow line and the next thing you'd know it's all over the ship. One time we hinted that we might sit off the coast of Iran for up to 90 days with no liberty port (this was just after the first Iranian crisis before the embassy was taken over in Tehran(I left Bahrain the day that happened) Not about SOMEONE, that's evil. Once we started some scuttle butt that someone poured cola in the ship's outgoing mail box! Some crewmembers were out for blood on that one! We were in the Arabian/Persian Gulf at the time...no email back then (78-79) and mail took 10-14 days to get home.
Rumors about PEOPLE are just plain SICK.

you tell the most untrustable,gossipy-ist person you know and tell her/him that she/he cant tell anybody
