I think our resources should be saved for finding people that are in danger do to cimcumstances beyond their control, such as natural distasters, kidnappings, plane crashes, etc. and not on finding people who decided to go hiking in dangerous weather or who took unnecessary risks for a thrill. These people should hire and pay privately if they want someone to keep looking for their missing loved ones rather than use the resources paid for by tax payers that are meant to help people in real disasters and conflicts.

In response to one of the answers I received, my family members are not going to be out doing silly stunts and taking unnecessary risks. I am not refereing to things that happen in life I am referring to people who climb mountains and try to fly across the world and all of that unnecessary stuff.

I don't believe they (hikers on the mountain for example) go looking to become a "search and rescue" or massive news media attention getting thrill seekers.
For the most part i believe thrill seekers take precautions and have a plan...it's when this plan is not executed ( i.e. not calling in when you reach a checkpoint or don't "check in" at all ) , this is when family members call for help... or someone cares enough to send in the Calvary to look for the thrill seekers. Now the 3 men who died on the mountain...had satellite phones, top notch gear and were very skilled....they were overcome by a huge weather system.

.... I WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING REMOTELY DANGEROUS
I'm no thrill seeker, but if by chance when i go out fishing on a calm lake, and for some odd reason some ****** hits my boat because he was drinking, and rides off without telling anyone... i hope someone comes looking for my roting corps so my family can have closer

I guess because everyone counts as a person. I think that is why people take so many risks anyway, is because they know if something happens there will always be a rescue.

Because MOST humans feel human life is precious. I hope if you or someone in your family ever go missing there will be someone UNLIKE YOU to go look for them. I bet you'd let your family or loved one stay lost.. "THEIR FAULT. TOO BAD LET THE FOOLS DIE." Right?.
