In actual fact every lollipop lady / man must carry a piece of chalk with her / him when they are carrying the stick on their dutie`s .
It is for writing down car registration number`s if a car fail`s to stop on a crossing she / he is in charge of !
I have asked at least 10 different lollipop people if they know what it is for and i was shocked at the amount of them that didn`t know !

if a motorist does not slow down or stop, the lollipop person can write the number of the vehicle in the black centre, then report it to the police.
