No way! I own an apple ibook.. and while it's certainly worth the money I paid and more, and I'll never go back to Windows.. it's not worth that much!! Especially considering that technology is advancing so quickly nowadays. Do some research and you should be able to find something for a lot cheaper!! But it you're looking for the best technology for now and have the money to blow, more power to ya. I wouldn't do it, though. I only paid $300.00 for mine.. and it's still everything I needed and more.
Also - a laptop is definitely a good investment, no matter the price. With an airport and a wireless router, you can use it wherever you want.. and while this may not seem exciting to you now, you'll appreciate it later..
And you can get around it not being ms word and ibm compatible. It's not as much a hassle as it sounds from some of the replies I've seen..

No. A MacBook isn't so good compared to a Windows notebook. Windows has so many things compatible with it, and mac really just sucks. Apple Computer Corp. (the makers of mac), are trying to beat Microsoft. So a Windows laptop is the best.
I also recommend HP, one of the best brands for Windows computers and computer products.
Good luck!

My husband makes much dinero fixing PC's, there's not a big market for fixing Mac's... we use Mac's at home and love them. Ask if they have any refreshed in the back if you're going to the retail outlet, same product with big savings. Always buy the care plan, they provide excellent service and it's a good value.

It is impossible to suggest if a computer is worth a given $ amount, until you know what the user intends to use it for.

Mac's are less user-friendly than Windows operating system comps. I would suggest you get something that has Windows.
