Please help! I am so in love with my first cousin, and I'm 99.5% sure he feels the same way. I seriously doubt we are going to do anything about it any time soon, as it would probably devastate our families, but I'd really value people's opinions on this. How wrong is it? I mean, I know its not illegal, but is it still so taboo in today's society? I'm 25 by the way.

I think you should date whoever you are in love with. If you are doing nothing legally wrong then who can criticise you. There is little risk of genetic abnormalities from marrying a cousin although it might be good to get your DNA checked for any potential rare diseases. In many cultures cousin marriages are widely accepted and often occur so if your family dislike the idea it is really their problem. They will come round eventually. At least if you get married all the guests will already know eachother so you won't need to bother to introduce them to eachother.

i'm not sure if it's illegal but it is wrong. i'm not gonna say "EWW!" and make you feel bad cuz that's also wrong but i am gonna tell you that you need to think every bit of this through. he's your cousin and not your 9th or 10th...your 1st! sometimes cousins are so far apart that there's barely a connection. therefore it really isn't wrong for the two of them to marry but for two 1st cousins to be in love with each other...that's just weird. i'm not trying to make you feel bad. you just need to think this through. just do whatever makes you happy. it's your life no one else's so just be with him if that's what makes you happy. good luck!

it is illigal to date your first cousin i dont think it is for your 2nd anyways,,,, but still i think it is wrong your parents were brother and sister or however it went,,, it think its wrong, i mean if he was adopted or if he was from anouther family or something,,, i just dont think you should do it,,, its your cousin,,, its so hillbilly
