Most people do it after New Years day. But it is really up to you and what fits your schedule. I don't take my down til April. I enjoy the beauty of the decorations a lot.

After New Years or any week of the 1st New Year. If you still have it up people will think that your too lazy to take it down. You may also have neighbors secretly annoyed at you with your decorations up still since you'll be making the neighborhood look messy.

Evidently in my neighborhood it's some time in June if that. We have people in our area that never take them down. They just leave them up all year and when Christmas comes around again if they still live there they just kind of straighten them up a little and hit the breaker.

Depends on your traditions. My Mother in Law doesn't take hers down until after New Years Day because she is Ukranian and its tradition there she says. I take mine down usually 3 days after Christmas
