That's a lie. I wouldn't want to run up on one or the other but I wouldn't go hiking where they freakin live either! I guess humans could be killed by one but not eaten. See even in a situation like that the human is the predator. In this case scenario to themselves. Humans think they rule the earth sometimes it is a fatal thought process. If you mess with a copper head you'll get bit. If you go hiking in bear country you are going to run into a bear and you better hope you can fly cause you can't out run them. Can't out climb them. I heard if you lay down and act dead they might slap you around some but they wont eat you.

Mountain lions have been known to kill and eat people, there are confirmed cases of black and grizzly bears killing and eating people, recently a wolf near a mine in Alaska which had become habituated to humans killed a miner as he walked home. Typically all of these animals would rather avoid humans then kill or eat them. It is an unusual case when one does it is usually is a result of other problems such as loss of natural prey, loss of ability to be effective at capturing natural prey (such as being old, broken or loss of teeth etc).

Statistically, humans are far more likely to be fatally mauled and even eaten by pit bull dogs and Rottweilers than other other North American animals with big teeth. So perhaps we should classify pit bulls and Rottweilers as predators of the human population.
When hiking in the wilderness, the most dangerous animal is the hiker himself. Most wilderness deaths of hikers are caused by bad judgement.

All the mountain lion attacks of people always end up being that the mountain lion was injured and could not hunt, or had cubs nearby and was protecting them. They rarely attack and eat people for no reason. I have heard of black bears attacking people, but not eating them. Outside the U.S., grizzlies and polar bears will readily eat people!

Black bears have on occasion munched on people. Big brown bears in Alaska have been known to munch. Polar bears will eat a person pretty much anytime the opportunity presents.
Of course, our offshore waters are also part of the US.
You're gonna need a bigger boat..

There are quite a few critters that kill humans and would eat us or parts of us if they came across a human carcass. Even certain insects, scorpions, and snakes. And of course alligators and crocodiles. Wolves have never been proven to attack humans unless they're rabid. Mostly other critters would prefer not to eat us, as I hear we taste and smell bad.

Probably. Grizzlies kill humans, but not in predation. Same with lots of other things that kill humans; they do it for other reasons. Oh.. but wait.. what about crocodiles and alligators? (Do we have both or just one?)

No, I believe other humans kill more of their own kind than any other predator.
