i was thinking about that too today
i'm half japanese
i think it might be because
asian parents expect more from their children
and the kids are more behaived
i've been to public school in the us and japan
when u get bad grades in japan ppl are ashamed of it
but in the US it seems like ppl like showing it off
i think it has to do a lot with their family, life style

No...you have an oversimplified view. Students in Asia are under a much stricter and faster paced curriculum. In India, for example, the high-schoolers graduate at grade ten. There are too many factors that contribute to the Asian education system, but some include how education is valued (one's success is measured by his or her education and the amount of opportunity that one has. Unlike America, you rarely have second chances in education. So you have to take it as seriously as you can.

To answer this question in a final, delayed manner, it lies in biological factors, not cultural factors, as the people on this topic (most of them, indubitably, 'white' or 'Caucasian') seem to believe.
Although the issue is necessarily more complex, to put it in succint terms, the average Asian is more encephalized than the average 'white' or 'black' person. This means, essentially, that an Asian's brain is larger, in proportion to his/her body, than the corresponding ratio for humans of direct African or European descent.
What this implies is that an Asian, and other subspecies that appear physicall similar to the Asian (Mexican, Arabian, etc., usually everyone of olive/brown skin and black hair, excluding Afrikans) are capable of a greater energy output using their nervous system.
And this means that they could, theoretically, retain and attain information faster and with more ease than an African or Caucasian.
Now, Indian people, in particular, ARE pushed by cultural and societal factors to become exceptionally intelligent. However, 'whites' are also pushed by parental influences -- in a capitalist society, EVERY family is pushing its youngest to outperform their peers.
Yet, although 'whites' often spend more time on homework than Asian counterparts in America, (I'll return to this post and include a citation later) Asians outperform 'whites' on nearly every assessment of intellectual acuity.
Of course, each 'race' of 'human' has its peculiar advantages and disadvantages. Africans and Europeans are, obviously, more massive and robust than Asians and their Mexican/Arabian relatives.
Yet, there is no denying that, to answer the question, Indian people are indeed abnormally smart, due to both biological and cultural factors. Of course, this statement may provoke a slight reaction via this digital apparatus.
However, allow me to settle the debate by stating that I, too, am Indian. :D

This makes them look extremely clever and bright, yet have confidence me, India has between the backside literacy fees interior the complete international.

They are motivated. In our generation there are many people from india coming to the West for opportunity that has been lacking in India, though many of our jobs are starting to go over there now. But they come for the education and careers and don't get sidetracked by the culture, pouring their time and energy into work instead of MTV and partying, ect. People of any race can do the same if they focus.

It's called "an unrepresentative sample".
India's national average IQ is 81. This means that the average Indian is a lot dumber than the average American (lack of adequate iodine in the diet, and an inadequate diet in general, probably has a lot to do with this). But India is a very segregated society, and it's enormous; even if you have a lot of really stupid people, there's room to have smart subgroups of tens of millions.
Then there's the selection effect; the Indians who wind up in the USA are among the best. The result is that we in the USA see lots and lots of very smart Indians.
China's average IQ is 100, slightly higher than the USA's; with 1.3 billion people it would be expected to have about 4x as many smart people as the USA. Again, the ones who get over here would be selected from that group.

No. Asian immigrants to America always consist of those who could afford to come here. That means that they held some sort of high/educated position, so the asians you see in America don't represent the population of the actual country. I'm Pakistani, and the program i'm in is made up mainly of indian/chinese/korean etc kids , but the main thing that causes them to succeed is the extreme pressure they recieve from their parents and community. There are always stupid asians though, but even when they're stupid, their hard work or motivation manages to conceal it.

I don't think so, many of the east-indian people in my class...well, aren't the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree.It just depends because there are smart and not-so-smart people of every race. But I'm talking about indians that have been raised in a western society. In India, they are much stricter so they work harder to achieve good grades.

It's called not being lazy. They are disciplined. Disciplined means to make a decision to succeed and then act on that decision every single day of your life.
My mom is a teacher. She opened my eyes to the standards of teaching in the US compared to other countries. Even in Mexico, the school systems are way ahead of America.
No kidding.

they come from a culture where being a spelling bee champion is considered an achievment whereas getting to Level 16 in a nintendo game is considered a waste.
Got it? They have their priorities set right.
I know a lot of stupid indians but they do not come to the West.
