That is cheap!!! If she's the host of her own party, then she should be footing the bill.

When it's your birthday, ask her to join you for dinner at a nice restaurant and have her pay the bill for the two of you ;o)

I think it's cheap and also a little rude! If she is throwing the party, she should pay for it herself. I could understand if it were a surprise party, and all the friends were chipping in to help. Tell her that if she wants 30 bucks to cover the cost, that can just be her birthday gift!!

i think it depends on what type of friend she is. if she does it often then yes it is cheap. if she doesnt and you know she is goin thru hard times then maybe not.but if ur lookin at the fact that you gotta pay to go to a party, then consider this: when you go to a club/bar you gotta pay. this time its for a friend.but like i said, it depends on what type of friend that person is. but as a personal opinion, it is a bit much.

IF I want to celebrate my birthday and there´s not enough money, I talk to my friends and explain that I am not going to pay for them and if they want to join they are welcome and then they decide who wants to go but paying thier food and drink. But if I call to invite it´s different.

She probably did not realize how much it would be put down a nonrefundable amt. and can not afford to cover the food for that many people. and yew it is lame and very cheap.

if she's asking for the money and a present then yes.
if she's asking for just the money. i dunno. i have to pay to go to my friends parties sometimes. it depends on who has money and who's fronting the cost. if you want to go to a friends party and have a good time. then buy in and don't get her a present. if you don't want to pay it then don't go.

hah, i think the cost is okay, but she is the one throwing a party, so it wouldnt be appropriate if she request money from you and your friends.

if her friends had organized this for her, it would be fine...you should be paying for your own meal at this age....it's not like your 6 and her parents are asking you to chip in for chuck e. cheese...but, it is a bit tacky for her to do this herself, unless you had all talked about ti ahead of time.
