I want to learn to play the acoustic guitar. I have been looking for a good starter, and many people have suggested the Washburn D100 ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Washburn-D100-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=515366 ). Does anyone here have an opinion on this guitar or want to suggest another? I hope to spend less thatn $200 just starting out, then if I ralaly want to pursue it then I will get a better quality one. I am actually a drummer at heart, but want to be a well rounded musician..

I had a cheap washburn once and it was a really good guitar. I would also recomend a Takameni (spelling) Jasmine model, there right around $200 and they play vary well.
Eather of those would be best, well in my opinion any way.

Good Luck

first question you want to ask yourself is what type of music you want to play....if ur fav. bands are metallica or slayer or system of a down or linkin park or green day, then get an electric. if you like bob dylan, get acoustic.

electric is easier to play.

a good electric guitar starts at about 200 or sometimes even less. I recommend getting more than you think you can afford, because whats the point of getting a begginner guitar if you keep improving anyways??

great beginner electric guitars are epiphone g-310 (199.99), yamaha pacifica (199.99), and ibanez gsa60 (199.99).

i suggest getting something alittle more than that, but u can still learn on the cheap guitars.

I suggest a Taylor baby guitar. They call it a baby because it is a 3/4 scale, entry level, no frills acoustic guitar. They are easy to play and have a decent sound. They sell for around $300.

Here in our country the Philippines, there is a city where I am

living who sells lots and lots of guitars at affordable rates! The

minimum is 800.00 php that is equivalent to $16 U.S dollars. You

can order in a site but sorry, I can't give you that such

information. It's really great if you are from the philippines

because Cebu,Philippines is popular known as the Guitar-

making place.

yes, my cousin has that guitar and it has great tone. i would suggest a classical (nylon string) guitar becasue it will be easier on your fingers and the neck is wider, giving you more room for your fingers. then once you get the hang of that playing electric and acoustic guiatrs will be easier becasue the neck is narrower.

the yamaha classicals http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitar/navigation/classical-nylon-string-acoustic-guitar?N=100001+306255&page=1

are really good for that.
if you really want an acoustic get the washburn or maybe an epiphone
but if not then i suggest the classical

yes that is a good axe. also look at Olympia guitars, a tacoma knockoff or Ibanez acoustics. Go to Sam Ash or Guitar Center, the best deals are there.

If you don't really know if you want to play or not, don't go spending 200-400 dollars on the best guitar ever.

Personally I suggest going to Wal-mart/K-Mart and buying one of those cheap (but somewhat) good guitars for 100 dollars and seeing if you like it, and learn how to play it. If you like it, return it to Wal-Mart/K-Mart, and get a better guitar (preferably from a music store with employees who know what they're talking about), and have fun with you're new guitar!

If you don't like it, Wal-Mart/K-Mart will most definitely refund.... Keep your receipt!

Good luck, hope ya like it.... guitar really is a great instrument.

go to your local guitar store and play as many acoustics as you can.
if you are afraid that you will be embarassed doing this,
washburn makes good quality guitars.
i would at least talk to a music shop and get their advice.

i cant tell how good it is from the picture but you want a guitar that has strings not to high above the frets, if its too high then itll be harder to play chords. if its too low then there will be a buzzing sound but itll be easier to play chords.

you shouldnt really care too much about brand and very little on quality if youre just starting out
