i find that i'm very confident in a group of people of all different age-groups...but when im at college with all young people, i seem to withdraw into myself. i keep wondering why this is...maybe it's because young people are more beautiful so I feel inferior to my friends or maybe it's the level of conversation- it just doesn't suit me. what should I do? and what could be the reasons behind my behaviour?

You have to believe in yourself. I feel akward around people all the time. If you make others out to be better than you, you will naturally shy away feeling you're just wierd or not good enough. You have to think of yourself as any other person, saying what you feel/what's on your mind. Nobody is perfect. Everyone is just trying to enjoy themselves. You must believe in yourself. You have every right to be yourself. If you are around mature people, they should not give you a hard time if you are trying to open up. You're being too hard on yourself. Simply let go of the worrying, and begin to freely express who you are.

Self confidence is attainable, work on it. I am sure you are more knowledgeable than the college kids, and probably look just as good. Be secure in yourself, and others will also.
