I found some 50 ct on sale at Office Max for $5, but they are 8x. Should I get them?

The x rating is the burn speed 8x is about 7.5min to write a full disk, 16x about 3.75min.

Its the rate of speed which can be written on the DVD.
The 16x is twice faster than the 8x DVD.

I wouldn't worry about getting a 16x speed burner. You will probably never burn at this speed because the reliability begins to plummet after 8x burning.

Sure, get them. The 16x will burn faster, but the 8x are OK.

its up to u if u really don't care how long it takes to surn a dvd go for it 8 times isn't that bad but 16 x's is twice as fast lol

speed at which they can be burned at 8X is way slower
