Abused women tend to think that they deserve the abusive treatment, that somehow, they have done something wrong, or said the wrong thing, or made the guy mad, the list is endless. There is a term for it, it is called, "battered wife syndrome", women(girls, young women, old women), tend to stay in these relationships, until they are either murdered, or they kill the men, in self defense, and going to prison, for many years. Your friend needs a friend, and someone to help convince her to leave him.
Good luck and God Bless!

1) Some women can be stupid.
2) Some women think they can change a man if they just love him enough.
3) Some women think they don't deserve better.
4) Some women are hell bent on saving hopeless causes.
You won't be able to change her mind. It's something that's going to have to fall on her like a piano in a Popeye cartoon.

You know, I used to say the same thing. My mom had an abusive boyf and she would leave and go back. I would get sooo mad. I couldn't understand. Then It happened to me. It's because you love them and know that they can sometimes be a good person. It's easier to stay than to start all over. Then I wisened up. I realized he wasn't worth it and We had more bad times than good times. Tell her you know it's hard, but time will heal her.

That's what abusive guys do. They make their girlfriends feel so bad about themselves and convince them that an abusive relationship with him is the best she can do. She probably feels like she can't get out so she just stays.

She probably has a low self esteem, or she has been with him for a long time, and she can't imagine being without him. I think you are being a good friend by being concerned enough about her by asking everyones opinion. As for "Foxy" ---I think you are the true idiot!!!!!

see theres a cycle in this. the first thing is the honeymoon stage when everything is perfect between them, then theres the tension stage where they both get irritated by little things then the 3rd stage is the explosion stage which is when he hits her and stuff. and it keeps going she must love him and believe him enough to be with him. maybe she thinks that he's her one and only but its her choice

their self esteem is shot. they don't get the compliments they deserve, however they get cut down by abusive (both mentally and physical) spouse. friends need to support and build esteem of abused spouse. that is the only way.

Low self-esteem and self-respect, she thinks she deserves the poor treatment at some level.
