Yes. The book is complex and wonderful. To make this movie they took, like, 8 or 10 scenes and made the movie and skimped very badly on the script, acting and direction.
The only thing they excelled in was Sephera's extremely emotive face! except her voice is just awful and miscast.
Prime scenes from the book are left out and new ones substituted; it's way simplistic! Don't expect to see the book that you saw in your mind.

Except for Sephera's eyes. She's worth the price of admission!

I read the book and just saw it yesterday. I liked the book better as it had more about Eragon's training. The movie showed a little, but kinda glossed over it. Same with the whole journey to the Varden. I understand that they couldn't throw everything in the movie but I thought that the book showed Eragon growing/developing into a Rider - that part just wasn't flushed out. Movie was good, but could have been better. It was also WAY better than Dungeons & Dragons (the movie) which was Jeremy Irons last dragon movie.

I haven't read the book but I saw the movie. I didn't think it was that good. I'm 17 though, so I'm probably too old for it. It was to kiddish. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are better, but if you read the book then you should still go. Here is a link to some reviews.

I did and I liked it. However, I never read the book, and everyone I know who did says the book is just uber cool and the movie left a lot out. They all seem to mention that dwarves are left out in some way, but I thought the movie was just fine without them. I went to see it for the great actors; you put Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, and Dijimon Hounsou in a movie together and I'll go see it. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't all sappy story, made for little kids, and it is very entertaining. I also loved finding Garrett Hedlund in it, who adds an eye-candy element. :) Since you read the book, you should recognize the name- he is Murtagh.

I liked it. I was more taken by the boy that played eragon than the movie itself, but I definately don't think it was bad cinema at all.

I haven't read the book either, but I really loved the movie. I liek the fact that the writer of eth book made teh dragon female instead of male, because they often make those types of characters male.

I also bought two songs by my favorite artists that were on the soundtrack. The score is just plain BEAUTIFUL.

I think you should see it, definitely.

i have seen it i thought that it was only ok. i haven't read the book my sister has and she said that the book is better, this is because the movie leaves out and changes parts of the story and it sort of ruined it for my sister

The movie was good, but different from the book... obviously. They are both really good in their own ways. I didn't find it too childlike, and I'm 23. But I love fantasy.

ITS A GOOD MOVIE BUT.....

if you really liked the book you'll be dissapointed. They leave out too much that it was hard for me to enjoy. But it was well made, just not well adapted.
