The federal minimum wage for all employers subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act (the law that sets minimum wage and overtime pay requirements) is $5.15 per hour, unless either you or the company is otherwise exempt. Go to www.dol.gov or call 1-866-4US-WAGE for more information.

Illinois state law may have a stricter requirement/higher minimum. Contact your state labor department or your Lieutenant Governor's office to find out. Their numbers can usually be found in the blue/government pages of your local telephone book.
