I'm pretty sure I want an apple, but I was wondering which one I needed to get, how much memory, etc. All I use the computer for is school, e-mail, and pictures... and sometimes games... but I always uninstall them after playing. Thanks!

An apple runs Mac OS X, which is far more stable than Windows XP in my personal opinion. They are great little machines and I'd probably get one someday when I can afford it.
For your needs, you will not need more than 512mb of ram and a 60gb HD (I'd go for 80gb if it's your only computer), excluding gaming.
Gaming: Some games usually requires a powerful computer. If you're talking about a web/online game however, anything above 1.8ghz should be fine. You should know that very few PC games (not online) will work because Macs use a different operating system (not windows).
Most people are against Macs because compared to a PC with similar performance (speed) it's usually more expensive (from 25% to 50% more).
Please feel free to contact me if you need any more help.
Take Care,
Ken

Ah yes, to buy or not to buy. That is the Question. Actually your question is simpler, "Is the MacBook a good laptop?" the answer is a resounding yes. With the new Intel processors you have not just one computer but two. How many others can actually say that? NADA! With an application called CrossOver, you will even be able to load Windows programs and run them even without installing XP. That is if you find yourself needing a Windows program.
Here is what should really put you over the line. I have had my PowerBook Pismo since 2000 and although I have changed the processor to a G4 550MHz and upgraded the hard drive and installed...well you get the picture. I have still payed less for my computer than most of my friends who do have Dell, Hewlett Packard, et al infinitum. They have gone through more computers with more problems than I have over the last 6 plus years.
The Apple MacBook is in this league I believe. I have used one for editing some short films and audio work. The positive feel and usability of this laptop is so much better than my clunky old machine that I am considering getting a black one with all the bells and whistles. For the price you really can't beat the MacBook although I do hope you get the one with the larger hard drive, more RAM and Superdrive, (because you know you'll want to burn DVDs.)
Remember though that the new OS will be out in the Spring, (if Steve Jobs doesn't surprise us at the MacWorld Expo. You may want to wait for that announcement so that you can get Leopard installed.) OK, so take that for what it's worth and study hard and make me proud of you.

For what you are looking for, yes. Apple makes two models, the MacBook, and the MacBook Pro. The Pro version does not have anything that you require. The Pro does have more video power, but if you are mainly using it for school, photos, email and the like, the regular MacBook is fine. If you are a hard gamer, then the Pro would be a better choice. The Pro is also the Mac of choice for many people who make their living in creative pursuits, such as making films, recording music, and the like. But if you're not billing for your time, then the MacBook will meet your needs just fine.
Macs and PCs now cost about the same, when comparing machines from each side that have similar features. Macs used to be more expensive, but that is no longer true.

Macs are great but better for multimedia like music editing, graphics, video editing. I'd recommend a pc more but it still comes down to personal preference.

It's much much better now that it's Intel. You can also install XP on it along with OS X, so you can still run all your Windows stuff.
