I'm in the web design field and I'm just starting out. I have only designed one commercially available website to date. http://www.boydsgoodyear.com/

Should I do some freelance work (from sites like scriptlance.com and ifreelance.com) to build a portfolio or should I just do some free work on the side ?

It seems like it will be hard to get freelance work on those sites anyways.

Anyone have any experience with this? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Hey...I clicked. Nice. Freelancing is very difficult. Try a couple of freebies, and hope when these two need something different, they will come to you. Maybe with those freebies you could say, I'll make you a deal...I'll design your first web site at no cost to you, if you will also assist me in gaining some new clients; does this sound like a fair deal?

See what they say. If the answer is no, then charge them. Whatever you do, don't sell yourself short and let anyone take advantage of you. Be certain you have screen shots or a CD with the pages on them for show. Also, it's very important that you create web pages of your own. You can do that in word. If you do some great 'screen shots' you can capture any background and use it as a photo to show some samples. Maybe in a picture software, you'd be able to remove the area around the screen shot and just leave the results visible. Sound like a plan?

it somewhat isn't any longer obtainable so you might grow to be a settlement author *everywhere* on the age of 13. Freelancers are writers who've a shown checklist as effectual writers, in many situations commencing up with salaried team author's job someplace. you do no longer in basic terms grow to be a settlement author from nowhere. you desire a profession music checklist. I artwork in a job the place we work together freelance writers now and back. No, we does no longer hire a freelancer and not using a profession historic past in writing, and no, we does no longer hire a teen. Ever.

Build your own website as a resume and then send links to it. Pick a field you are interested in, and offer to do a free site for them. (ie law/dr/ realtor)
