You know what thats a question I often ask myself, has young love become teenage sex? Is that what they believe young love is, today young love is rebelling! To me young love was fab, butterflies in tummy and all that, but now I have a little sis who's 16 she's "in love" with a 22yr old, I believe there is no such thing as young love anymore, it is all just sex!

I think there's a lot of reasons why young love is being replaced by sex. First off children are influenced by their adult role-models. More and more frequently those role-models are figures on the tv rather than people in real life. Sure mum and dad are great, but it would be so much more fun to be a secret agent or a popstar. So kids start imitating these role-models both in the way they act and the way they dress.
The media then sees how these children act and dress and then cater to the current culture. Look at things like Bratz dolls and Hi5. Both things aimed at young children that encompass a style which is a lot less innocent and more adult than their past counterparts. All this does is reinforce the afore styles which they where imitating and further their desire to mature a lot faster than they actually are.
By the time they reach 12 or 13 in their mind they're ready to take on the world (or at least parts of it). Love is romantic, sex is fun. The general consensus among teens is that they have plenty of time to find true love and marry later in life. For now it's about finding someone they can have fun with. Gives a whole new meaning to 'playdate'.
Not only that, but I'm noticing a disturbing trend with 13 year old girls going out with 18 year old guys. Later on in life the age gap wouldn't matter so much as both would be mature to an extent, but with the 13 year old girls believing that they are mature and sleeping with 18 year olds they don't really understand the full extent of what they do. The old morals that used to be there to guide people simply aren't prevalent any more and the more 'mature' young people become the more 'mature' they will be portrayed in the media creating a real downwards spiral.

young love still exist but you just hear about sexually active teens and not the good stuff cuz of society. The people doing wrong have to tell the world and the good onesdon't speak up. But I agree teenagers do need to settle down but they're bombarded with sex in the media. But I'm a teen and I believe in abstinence until marriage as well as my friends and that's why we're starting a teen awareness program.

I think it is because most people feel that it is what makes them popular and cool, it is at my school anyway. But me and my boyfriend are an example of young love, we're both 15, we have been going out for just over 4 and a 1/2 years now and i can honestly say we haven't done anything. Loads of people calls us losers but we don't care!

The world is on a moral decline. The newest generations have sold their sense of love and passions for electronics and sex. It will all get better as soon as the world ends.

Sex is used to sell anything including food so of course it has influenced teenagers who confuse sex with love.

They use sex to sell cars, perfume, clothing, even house paint. Do you blame the media or the parents!?? Kid's go to school with their A++ hanging out and have much to much freedom to be some what promiscuous...I don't think there is an answer to your question.....

This question presumes that teens are more sexually active now than some time in the past and that sex and love and not connected. Neither are true.

They get it from their parents. Parents are divorcing so they can "be happy" and dating, sleeping around, shacking up, pursuing their love lives, having their "friends" sleep in the family home----teenagers are forced to witness their divorced parents sex lives all the time, so they follow their role models.

It's all the see now, its all over the media and I think its even out of parents control now. It's very hard to watch your children all the time. Look at Brittany Spears and watch she has done for the younger viewers and Brats dolls, thats absolutly stupid! but yet its everywhere!
