This I think is an important question. It may be based on personal opiion I just want anwers.

We would have to add several historians, many new history book chapters to handle such information. I imagine this would change the world much more than the industrial revolution.

This has already happened - the governments just cover it up and refuse to acknowledge that anything has ever happened.

Part of the problem is that one race that we call "aliens" are actually the 3rd intelligent race to evolve on this planet - the ones we call "greys" - they are Earthlings just like we are, so the governments have an easy out on the UFO and alien stuff just by saying "there is no such thing as aliens, and no unidentified craft have ever landed" because they have identified all the craft to date.
