Which part would you have me address? The war in Iraq, much to the dismay of the popularists, is due to the corruption of the U.N. and the 17 sanctions broken by Saddma Hussein in the Cease Fire Agreement from the first Gulf War.
The war in Afghanistan? It is a war of ideals and politics. Read chapter nine of the Qu'ran and then understand that these people hate everything you stand for simply because you breath air. The then government of Afghanistan supported this nonsensical hatred by hiding the terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks That killed so many innocent people in the U.S.. That government was given an option /ultimatum. They chose the wrong one.Dolen, shall I scare you? I commend you! Well done! But please, do not for a moment, down play the hatred the Islamists have for us! There will be hell to pay. Great job! Asker, Dolen is exactly on the money on this one!

This is a classic clash of cultures dating back thru ancient history. So many invaders have conqured the Middle East: the Egyptians, Hittites, Babylonians, Greeks, Persians, and Ottomans, just to name a few. Also, the bitterness between the Christian West and the Muslim Middle East was enflamed by the Medieval Crusaders who attacked the Muslims in their home countries. Now, the Muslim world is behind the West in technology, education, and standard of living, so there is a great resentment. Finally, the U.S. policy of blindly supporting the state of Israel, no matter how badly the Israelis treat the Palestinians and steal their land with illegal settlements, has enraged the entire Muslim world agains us, and with good reason. Of course, the U.S. invasion of Iraq did not help any. I hope this sheds a little light on this complex issue.

From the Muslim point of view, they think the US meddles in their affairs, so the Muslims struck back on September 11.
From the American point of view, nothing justifies terrorism, so we struck back after September 11.
Of course, there was attacks by Muslims against the US before September 11.
Basically, there were no free societies in the Arab world. All dictatorships. That is what produces terrorism. The societies under a dictatorship get so twisted that the people think it's okay to blow yourself up while killing innocent strangers.
Not much evidence that America helped the oppressed people under the dictatorships in the past.
Now George Bush is pursuing the idea that toppling dictatorships will end terrorism. I hope it works.

This starting in the first days of earth (the Bible explains in, well, ALL its books, pretty much) and will go on until the end of time. The Bible prophesies its continuation. It is allowed by God and has to do with the battle between Good and Evil. Kinda like the Lord of the Rings concept. The LOTR story is a parable of what really is happening. No, I'm not kidding.

Can't they all just be friends. I mean Christianity, and Islam are the same thing. They believe in Yahwea, and they like pizza. I smell a party. Friendship time. But in seriousness isn't some countries in the Middle East being secular now a days?

Because of 2 things - religion (and the conflict between Christianity and Islam, and the differing beliefs and morals each religion upholds), and money (or more specifically, the money to be found in oil).
