take him + buddies laser tagging, or buy him a certificate to go laser tagging
tickets to a sports event for a sport/team he likes
portable dvd player
if he skateboards get him a nice looking, quality skateboard or just a deck
if he likes camping, buy him some camping gear that he'd need or would like to replace
if he surfs, well, a new wet suit or board, or maybe just plenty of sunblock and board wax
if he already has a car, buy him an ipod car charger and fm transmitter
a visa gift card
take him out to eat to his fav. restaurant or get him a certificate
my bf and my brother say guys always need plenty of boxers and undershirts haha

Let's see....hm...okay maybe you can throw him a hotel party with a few of his guy and female friends for swimming if it's on the inside....that's what my brother had. If not that idea then depending on where you live maybe a BBQ or do something that he loves or just hint at him what would he want for his birthday
