My doctor has recomended I get theses shots once a week to prevent preterm labor 17 alpha hyydroxy progestrone. Wonder if there is any side effects to me or the baby. If it really works . If it makes you go overdue? Anyyy info is helpful

I didn't have progestrone shots, I used a supository (same treatment different method). It didn't cause me to go past the due date in fact the oposite happened, he was 16 days early but perfectly fine. The only side effect that I had was seemed to make me extra sleepy. Good Luck

My doctor recommended the same shots for me but unfortunately my insurance wouldn't cover them. From all that I have heard, the shots do help alot and it doesn't make you overdue. I'm really not sure of any ill effects the shots give you other than the sight of the injection is sore for a day or so. Good luck with what ever you choose.
