Your DVD collection should include movies that have replay value ... if you laugh at a stupid comedy, it doesn't mean it's worth watching again and again. If a horror movie has a scare factor, it will be lost each time you view it.
The movies you choose should be "timeless". A good story that can still be enjoyable after 20 viewings.
The Color Purple, Saving Private Ryan, LOTR, superhero series, Matrix trilogy, Hong Kong features, whatever you like that you can stand to watch again.

The Back To the Future set, Because you can watch it all the time
The Star Wars Collections, Because they are awesome
The Lord Of The Rings, Becuase they never get old
Titanic,Secondhand Lions, Chicago,Nanny Mcphee, Gone With the Wind,The Garfield movies and Out To Sea. Just funny and timeless movies

Pulp Fiction- One of the best movies ever made
Godfather Trilogy- No explanation needed
Scarface- Both are really good
Star Wars- Both Trilogies are great
LOTR- Everybody enjoys these films
Spider Man 1 and 2- Great action and great movies.

This is an impossible question to answer, without knowing what your movie tastes are, which movies you already own, etc.
My advice would be to pick which movies you already own which you really like, then get other movies by that director. If you LOVED the Lord of the RIngs trilogy, pick up OTHER Peter Jackson movies, such as "Dead Alive" or "Bad Taste", or "The Frighteners", see if you enjoy them as much as LOTR.

Amelie, a french movie but it is soooooooooooooo nice, everytime i watch it it makes me happy, has so many nice things in it, you find something new each time, a must have even if you don't like foreighn movies
