Yeah I know it is not Christmas anymore but I just recently heard the song 'River' and I am hooked. If you know any more songs that are like this please list them. I am basically looking for songs that are heartfelt and resonate a longing for a better time or place. Another song I would put in this category is "Silver Lining" by Amanda Ghost.

Joni Mitchell did the original of River, has been covered a few times. I like Robert Downey Jr's version too. But check her out, also Carole King, Tori Amos, Alyson Krauss.
