What do you mean "not recognised"? Which operating system are you using? Which application are you using the play the DVD?

If your computer can't recognise it, it could well be dodgy. If it doesn't work in another computer or a DVD player, all you have on your hands is a shiny coaster, I'm afraid.

You can't. If windows doesn't recognize that it is in fact a DVD, then the encoding is wrong or the DVD is scratched or dirty.
