I like knitting. It's inexpensive to start and you can build up to really complicated things. You should get yourself a pair of size 8 knitting needles and a ball of yarn and go to this site www.learntoknit.com.

Well first you gotta show your mind it's important to you, so make sure it's something you'll continue doing every day or you'll give up in a few days. As for the hobby itself, try collecting soda cans, hats, or a series of toys.

What about photography? It has a variety of ways to about it. You could photograph people, plants, animals, objects or just life in general. For me, I like to take pictures of the moon, stars, clouds and people doing everyday ordinary life. The scenery changes everday. You don't have time to get bored with it. Start with a disposable camera and move up to digital camera. Life in general and the reactions to life are more captivating that a painting by Michelangelo himself. It's real!

It depends on what you like doing, how much time you have, wether you want to do it indoors or outdoors, if you want to spend money on it and how much...
An easy rule would be to do something that you enjoy. Handicrafts, music, sports, writing, reading, walking, collecting (any number of things e.g. thimbles, wild flowers, tin cans, old toys, coins, stamps, teapots, film memorabilia and millions of other stuff...)
It's up to you really.
Hope it helped.

How about altered books? I am very interested in doing these. They are sort of like scrapbooks only better. Check out www.joggles.com and put in altered books in the search. If you like rubber stamping, or painting or scrapbooking, you'll love this!!

Rock collecting, you can start in gravel pits or gift stores. Also if you decide you don't like your collection you can throw it at people.
