She can fly up until 28 weeks without a doctors letter, then to 32 or 34 weeks with a doctors letter.
Some people think that long haul flights should be avoided in the first trimester, but there is very little evidence that this causes a problem. I did a 24 hour flight in my first week of pregnancy and my pregnancy is going very well. It's not worth cancelling your holiday over, especially as you won't be able to claim that on travel insurance as a valid reason for cancelling.

I love the guy who thought Goa is an airport code!!

The flight will be safe, I've just been to see my midwife about flying and was told up to about 30 weeks. Only thing is, I went to cuba with hubby when I was 8 weeks and on the 2nd day there I had morning sickness all day everyday and couldnt leave the hotel room so hubby had to entertain himself for 2 weeks! Also I fancied eating things that were not out there, ie donuts and as a result lost over half a stone. If she feels well them go as its a fab place and who knows when you'll get the chance to go after the baby is born. Good luck

yup. but check with the airport, some places don't like to fly pregnant women after they're 28 weeks as the pressure can cause some women to give birth on the plane!! but if she's only just found out i'd assume she's 12 weeks or less? she'll be fine 2 fly.

have fun in Goa!

If it were me I would want advise from my GP.

1. How far along is she.
2. Does she need any immunuisations when travelling to the country that are not safe in pregnancy.
3. Any exsisting medical conditions.
4. How is she feeling in herself.
5. What are the risks if any.

When you have all the relevent information you can make an informed decision together and you will both feel comfortable with the decision you make.

Good Luck.

As long as she isn't too far along in her pregnancy and hasn't had any complications, she should be fine to travel. Be sure to check out if the place she is flying to doesn't require a particular immunization before coming into that area. That may complicate things if she has to have that shot. Best of luck to her.

Yes! Most airlines allow women up to 36 weeks pregnant fly. I researched it earlier for a friend.

Check whether you need malaria tablets. if you do some are not advised whilst pregnent. Net Doctor is a good place to check.
I've also read that ideally you shouldn't fly until after 3 months but I would take your doctors advice.

Perfectly safe as long as she is feeling fine (inc. morning sickness). The airline would only have a problem in the last months of pregnancy but if she has only found out - then enjoy the flight!

Yes! I flew when I was pregnant. Just enjoy the holiday. If you have any concerns about the pregnancy talk to a doctor. I travelled through and stayed in various South East Asian countries whilst pregnant. Had very healthy boy.
