It also depends on where in the country you live...since there are different standards of living, you will earn $100k in expensive areas much quicker than in inexpensive areas.

I am an engineer and just hit that milestone 6 months ago. I graduated in '94, so it took me 12.5 years to get there. I don't know of many opportunities (other than risky ones, or ones that require luck) that will enable you to earn $100k right out of college. Oh, unless doctor is the way you want to go (I don't know for sure...only guessing) - but then again, doctors aren't full doctors until they are about 29 though (4 undergrad, 4 med school, 3ish intern/resident depending on the speciality).

If you are willing to wait a few years, engineering is a good field.

Didn't you already ask this? Try being an Electrical Engineer, or a Medical Doctor. Science and Math courses tend to earn you the most money. Or become a self-made entrepeneur. But how about doing that for which you have the most passion? I got a Liberal Arts degree, but because I had carefully thought out all my classes - was hired by a great company, with a great salary. If you like what you are doing - you are likely to be successful at it. Don't just aim at the money. That can head you for disaster.

I've been told that the best field to earn this type of money is to go into a finance major. You may not earn that right off the bat, but if you are motivated enough, you should move quickly in to an area within that field that can help you.

Most business schools offer a major in finance.

I am 34 and earn well over $100,000 a year and did not complete college. I have a few home based businesses. I don't recommend not finishing college for anyone. Doors open much easier with an education if you go the job route.

"College courses" are not necessarily the answer. Try to learn about real estate investing, ect. There's a very helpful site: http://www.creonline.com
