I would agree with one other guys above me-- unemployment is insurance that employers pay into-- I presume the gov does the same. And its NOT the same as welfare or a handout. Its only for a small amount of time and doesn't cover your full salary necessarily.
That said, those unemployed staffers will have to go out and get a REAL job in the private sector or another gov job.
