The Scion xA is a great little car. It is based off the Toyota Echo chassis - that's why it drives a bit harsh. Has a lot of nice features: power windows, locks, antilock brakes, etc. Compared to a Toyota Yaris (same chassis), it is a much better value. Compared to a Scion xB (same chassis), it is less expensive and looks a bit more mainstream.
How about this for an idea - buy a Corolla CE for $13,800 ish or a Corolla LE for $15,200 ish. The Corolla chassis is stronger and stiffer. The Corolla also has a 1.8l vs 1.5l for the xA.

What the heck are you people talking about? The xA is not even in the same class as the WRX ($25-39k), mazdaspeed 3 ($23-32k). It starts at $13k and comes nicely equiped. Even the rabbit gets to be pretty pricey when you start adding on the features that you really want.
I don't think it's bad looking, but to each their own. I got an xB and love it. I've hauled everything from fridges to ovens and couches in it and it's still so short. I would definitely go xB over xA. xB was just rated top resale holding auto. I love scion and can't stand people bashing what they don't know.

It is a decent little vehicle...it is like sitting in an SUV...it gets good gas mileage...but for the money, the best buy out there is a 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit...they are like 16k... and they have a ton of features and are very safe!

you got A cheap one and can not put back all 02 sendors or other sensors like air/gas mix is not hooked up. scion option is K@N kit which is 259.95 Also vacums may be hooked up to original.

it is such an ugly car, but I'd rather push one of those than drive an xB, that car's clay model was made in 45 seconds! no design features at all!

made by toyota,I don't see me in one of those type of cars, it looks like a mini hearst....I prefer for that price the mazda speed 3
or the subaru wrx..
