The Beatles (especially in the mid-'60s) were THE band back then, so anything by them...the British Invasion made all those Beatle wannabes really big, so anything by those people (the Kinks, the Animals, the turtles, the..) also motown stuff was very popular and finally all the hippie stuff: Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Janis Jolin, Greatful Dead

Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or The Beach Boys. that would be the ones I'd choose from. They were the best of the best. We still hear their music played today and it's 2007. HAPPY NEW YEAR! And I suspect we'll still be listening to them in another 20 years from now as well. They just don't make 'em like that any more. That was the dawn of the creation of rock and roll like we will NEVER experience it again. Sadly we are now forced to listen to noise people choose to call music. I believe it hardly takes any talent at all to perform "many" of the hits that make it big today. Good luck with your party...enjoy!!!
