I think dreams are our minds' way of dealing with issues we can't deal with while we are awake. Whether they be overly happy, sad, confusing, or stressful. I think our dreams try to sort out whats going on in our lives subconciously so that we don't have to deal with the burden of it during the day!

Great question.

I believe that dreams are the brain's way of exploring aspects of our lives that we do not allow during the day or that for whatever reasons we have put up blocks to understanding.

When I was in school and there was a difficult concept, sometimes I would think, oh, I am not smart enough for this, but my brain would work it out in a dream(freed of doubts) like a Rubik's cube and by the morning, I would understand it better.

I have had dreams of a graphic nature and when these happen, it can be upsetting or extremely pleasurable, but again, it is just the brain freed to venture down paths I may wonder about but never venture down in real life.

I believe that they are all purposeful messages that take random images from the subconscious and use them, for a Purpose. We may not always understand what our dreams mean, but when the time comes for us to know, we will know.

Our dreams combine verbal, visual and emotional stimuli into a sometimes broken, nonsensical but often entertaining story line. We can sometimes even solve problems in our sleep. Or can we? Many experts disagree on exactly what the purpose of our dreams might be. Are they strictly random brain impulses, or are our brains actually working through issues from our daily life while we sleep -- as a sort of coping mechanism? Should we even bother to interpret our dreams? Many say yes, that we have a great deal to learn from our dreams.

In this article, we'll talk about the major dream theories, from Freud's view to the hypotheses that claim we can control our dreams. We'll find out what scientists say is happening in our brains when we dream and why we have trouble remembering these night-time story lines. We'll talk about how you can try to control your dreams -- both what you're dreaming about and what you do once you're having the dream. We'll also find out what dream experts say particular scenarios signify. Finding yourself at work naked may not mean at all what you think it does!

Thier random images from the subconscious, which have a purposeful meaning

they may well be the two yet greater beneficial than probable they in all probability only random. I had a random dream right this moment, the place like i became staring at a sort of parody movies on the cinema and those 3 bridesmaids have been insulting the bride of the marriage and that they've been talking in a foreign places language. I even observed that the action picture became rated PG-13 (M in Australia, that's the place I stay) and it became rated that for Coarse language and sexual references. Like I swear it became a commercial in my head besides the shown fact that it became basically a dream.

Random images

Definitely messages. It is not the collection of random images that count, but the message behind those images.

When I have a strange dream and wake wondering "WTH was that all about!" I tend to ponder it all day, focusing on the EMOTIONS that it evoked...this helps to clarify the meaning for me.
