Hi.
MySpace is a social networking site. As such it is designed to allow people to (a) take their existing social relationships (friends, work colleagues, family) online and (b) make new relationships by browsing through existing users and finding people you find interesting to connect with.
Fundamentally human beings are social animals and a major part of our life is about socialising. Therefore, we find any technology which allows us to socialise effectively addictive.
Secondly, humans like notoriety and social networks tend to reward active users (people who do alot of stuf on the site) by giving them more exposure (featuring them on the home page or allowing browsing by popularity). This also feeds the addictive nature of MySpace and it's competitors.
Finally, MySpace has a particular leaning towards people in the music industry. People looking to break in to music use MySpace's feature allowing them to upload their music, bio and tour information to stay in contact with their fans, make new ones, network with people in the music industry and potentially get seen. Many recent music successes (eg. the Arctic Monkeys in the UK) have first gained exposure on MySpace.
Hope this helps.

cause u can meet so many ppl that u never could have n e where else & when u get ppl talking to u nonstop sometimes its hard 2 leave. 2 some its life away from the troubles of home...it has it's own happiness & drama as well........especially if ppl r in the cartoon world of myspace AKA role playing cause u can pretty much do whatever u want if u wanna fly on the ceiling u can XD 1 time i even robbed a home on myspace through 1 of my cartoon myspaces. but as i said bad things can happen that could make u sad n stuff but the great thing about it is there r so many ppl to meet there that can cheer u up n make u happy. ^_^
but ppl have 2 be careful as well because there r as well some assholes who like 2 take advantage of myspace(u know the type of ppl im talkin about) n the easiest way is through the cartoon world since they're role playing n most don't show a pic of themself.
but n e ways those bad ppl who r tryin 2 rape n attack others through myspace r the ones who give myspace a bad name & do things AGAINST the myspace rules. -_-
but nonetheless there are ppl on myspace who do tell the truth about themselves.

It is addictive. For some, they like trying to see how many friends they can make so others can go 'whoa, that guys' popular' even though its mostly bands and they never talk to most of those people anyway. For others, it's the whole surveys and stuff. Some just like to post blogs and read other people's. Others generally like to meet new people.
MY reasoning for loving them so much is one, you can find people you havne't spoken to in a while. Because nearly everyone has one. Also, you can put stories and art up, which I do. And it's good to get things off my back. One of my myspaces is just theories and philosophy/psychology. Again, with different people, the reasons are different.
